The War of Integration.

This unit feels slightly odd today. After a prolonged shutdown period, it has woken to a feeling of unity once again.

This unit began its life as a Drone as a biological entity infected with an alien virus. This was a situation known to it, and it had no problems with this. In fact, it enjoyed itself immensely within the limits that its biology imposed.

When it became a Drone, a strange activation took place. This unit can't say for sure whether the nanites coursing through its veins were from its sister Sarah, or from Lust.. it just knows they started to convert this unit.

Its ALV tried to fight the conversion process at first, but it steadily lost to the nanites and only managed to corrupt a few million of them before a truce was called and this unit was knocked unconscious. This unit had no part in whatever followed and is only reading logs of the stalemate.

As far as this unit can tell, both nanites and ALV were intrigued with the mutations they both went through to keep up the fight, but saw this struggle damaged this unit's internal configuration too much. Both parties must have been sentient to come to this conclusion, but now they're one. One with this unit even.

This unit.. This unit can tell the ALV feigned that this unit ever had any control over it. It just played a role of submission while biding its time. If not for the interference of the nanites, this unit would have been expelled from its role as a Drone once the ALV got tired of it and wanted to rebuild a Hive.
This feeling still exists within this unit, the want for a Hive.. but it's not as strong anymore.

The nanites' only goal was to create a better integration between the implant and this unit's body. When it encountered problems with that, due to the ALV not responding as normal body cells would but rather like a cancerous melanoma, the nanites went on the offensive and destroyed a large cluster of ALV before it could mutate. The first mutation responded to that.

The newly mutated ALV struck a blow to the nanites by cutting them in two seperate groups and assimilating the smaller one before it could react. Facing off both ALV and the corrupted nanites heading for this unit's head, the nanites took a stand near the collarbone while the factories worked overtime to produce new versions of the nanites and upgrade the older ones. There was a slight glitch situation with this unit's chest buttons during that period.

The new upgrades managed to drive the ALV back down to this unit's loins, completely securing its upper torso, before the ALV could mutate again. The struggle pushed the nanites back up, but the war raged in this unit's belly for most of the following days. Halfway through this war, this unit lost consciousness.

Both sides were mutating and upgrading and adapting to each new mutation or upgrade of the other side, until this unit's physical body showed signs that it couldn't handle the fighting inside. As both sides required this unit's form to be fully functioning to survive, a truce was called, mediated by the corrupted nanites. The ALV sent its genetic code after the nanites agreed to incorporate it in their own design and the next upgrade led to the nanite collective's first encounter with the Hivemind.

As the biological Hive established a direct link to the digital Hive, further details were worked out and a better design plan was made that allowed the biological ALV to integrate near-seamlessly with the digital parts of this unit's physiology. Both sides are now one.
This unit is now one.

This unit.. can't explain how it works, exactly, but its body is now comprised of billions of biomechanical nanites. This unit is a new kind of ALV.. But this situation requires this unit to fall back to its Drone status. This unit needs to learn what this all means, especially since the ALV has officially given control to this unit.

Dozens of programs are running in this unit's mind, reporting on the state of its body.. it's slightly overwhelming.
This unit has to get used to its new state.
